CLASS OF 1960

CLASS OF 1960 ENDOWMENT FOR ARCHIVES TOTAL AS AT MAY 31, 2020

CLASS REPS: Marsha Davis Brooks, Rosemary Elder Dick and Patricia (Pat) Weller Bent Can you believe it? Sixty years since we graduated from Havergal. We are looking forward to greeting our classmates at Reunion Weekend. We hope to see many classmates from far away, including England, Amsterdam, Mexico, and San Francisco. Sue Cantley Irvin writes that she hasn’t been back to Havergal since she graduated and will be delighted to tour the boarding school and the new additions. Nancy Vokes MacLennan has had a great year enjoying activities with eight grandchildren and a cruise to Alaska. She still plays badminton. Cathy White Weymouth says she has stopped sports but works out at a fitness club on alternate days at seven in the morning. Her husband has developed a culture driven foundation, the PLF, which supports ballet dancers, orchestra conductors, pianists and theatre directors. Their first-ever fellow was a ballet dancer whom Mary Risley took in when he joined the San Francisco Ballet. Havergal hands across the water, so to speak. Mary writes that as she approaches her 80th birthday, she is feeling so fortunate that she grew up with good luck, making good decisions and having the right guidance in life. She is constantly reminded

as she is the director of Food Runners. It supplies enough food for 24,000 meals a week to the homeless. Though based in Calgary, Mary Krug Ndlovu is still actively engaged in the Edward Ndlovu Library. She is grateful to Barb Rea Lemmon , Marsha Davis Brooks and Janet Bell Macey for their help in fundraising and to Anne Carter and her family trust, the Cloverleaf Foundation. Fran Smith Stronach writes that this year’s Women’s Day of Prayer highlights Zimbabwe. Fran will be part of this celebration and has prepared a display highlighting Mary’s library. Kathy Cowan Russell writes from a holiday in Lake Chapala, Mexico, that her grandson has a basketball scholarship in Alberta. Mary Charles Fisher walked the Isle of Wight in April and went biking in Burgundy. She volunteers at the CNIB and New Circles. We look forward to seeing you at Celebration Weekend. Due to COVID-19, the date of our Reunion has been shifted to May 29 and 30, 2021. Plan to join us for dinner with your classmates, a tour of modern Havergal and more.

CLASS REPS: Elizabeth (Betsy) Bell Perkin, Jill Cumberland Trennum, Susan (Sue) Ortved Armitage A new decade is not slowing us down! We are eagerly anticipating another Reunion next year with a great opportunity to connect again in person. Send us any ideas! Meanwhile, the past year saw many classmates continuing to travel. Sally Taylor took trips to Portugal in June and Istanbul in September, finding the five Stans interesting and educational. Leith Drury hiked in Italy through lush forests, UNICEF World Heritage Sites and vineyards. She also spent a week in London, staying in

a comfortable English club. The only drawback was that her walking shoes were not “proper attire” for breakfast. The hostess told her to limp so that it would appear that she needed support footwear for medical reasons! Jill Cumberland Trennum and Bob enjoyed touring Canada, first taking The Canadian from Vancouver to Toronto with Brenda Graham Hercia and Karen RechnitzerWhite , sharing a fabulous time! Lots of laughs! Fond memories for Brenda and Jill, who had taken the same trip alone 63 years ago (only this time they did not get locked out in the caboose)! Jill and Bob also enjoyed a more active and scenic trip in September on The Rocky
