CLASS OF 2009 ~ 10th Reunion

CLASS OF 2009 BURSARY TOTAL AS AT MAY 31, 2020

The Class of 2009 had fun at their 10th Reunion last fall.

CLASS REPS: Caitlin Collis, Elizabeth (Elizabeth) McNeil and Jessica Mealia Emma Romano accidentally had a Lord of the Rings -themed wedding, won some legal battles for her clients (including one at the Ontario Court of Appeal), became an aunt, and very much enjoyed reliving her youth in the Grad common room during the 10-year Reunion at Havergal. It has been particularly nice to watch some of her close pals from high school start and grow their own businesses, make exciting careers moves to new companies, cities and countries, and generally continue to love and support one another. Elizabeth McNeil recently co-founded a non-profit, HOOPLA, aiming to support and empower women towards self-advocacy through workshops and corporate events. She continues to travel, bake and, like any good millennial, post lots of photos of her doing these things on Instagram. Naomi Melvin stars as the animated character Leo in Leo’s FishHeads , which airs on TVOKids and is targeted at school age children. To complement her work in digital media and to actively get involved in the Havergal community, she has proudly taken on the role of HOGA’s social media chair as of August 2019. Emily Macrae is a policy advisor at the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and a co-organizer with Civic Tech Toronto,

where she hacks on projects to support public spaces and public services. Alistair Macrae is clean shaven and ahead of the trend on Stoicism. In the past year, Ali MacKellar has managed a traumatic brain injury (TBI), adopted a sweet rescue pup named Ru and started her own business. Although she continued to deal with post-concussion symptoms, Ali took life by the balls and launched her own inclusive fitness business, creating a feel-good fitness community for outsiders, rebels and radical people. She focuses on creating a welcoming fitness environment for beginners, queer folx and people with chronic illness and injuries to find their strength and reap the mental health benefits that come with movement.
