CLASS OF 1993

CLASS OF 1993 ENDOWMENT TOTAL AS AT MAY 31, 2020

CLASS REPS: Andrea Racansky Thomson, Tamara Kolber, Mariam Marandi and Amy Schlueter It has been a lean year for submitted news from the Class of 1993. Yet through the wonders of social media, I have watched my classmates succeed in their careers, enjoy holidays with their beautiful families, renovate or upgrade their homes, overcome adversity and celebrate milestones. Here is the news I received. Rebecca Shapira Stutley left her role as the director of marketing at IKEA Canada in 2018 to join Kids Help Phone. That same year, she launched her own coaching practice – “Be Wholehearted You” – which helps clients in their own self-discovery journeys. She’s the mum to two amazing boys (8 and 13). Like Rebecca, Tamara Kolber ’s boys are growing big and healthy. At last year’s reunion, I spoke to Mita Ghosh about her career aspirations, and this year she achieved them! Mita is now a trainee accountant for film and television and has worked on the shows Ghostwriters and Titans . Marie-Eve Villeneuve made a big move: she and her family relocated from Montreal to the Laurentians, to a small town called Val-David. She continues to work for the same Montreal firm, remotely three days a week and in the city the other two days. She and her children Elliot

(7) and Lili (5) spend lots of time cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or simply enjoying the outdoors. Jennifer Bassett celebrated a major milestone this year – her business, Bassett Events, marked its 20th anniversary and was voted one of the top 50 planners in the world by BizBash. Will (12) is at Deer Park, and Mackenzie (13) signed with Spot6 Management as a model. Jennifer is also celebrating five years of marriage to her amazing hubby. Julie Crothers is the president of the Havergal Old Girls Association and does an extraordinary job representing all us alumnae. It was a milestone year for me, Andrea Racansky Thomson – I left my position at the NAC Foundation after 15 years and took on the role of director of development at Elmwood School, the same girls’ school my daughter Camilla (14) attends. Camilla made it to the Ottawa regional science fair, and Ella (17) got her driver’s license and her first job as a lifeguard/swim instructor. I also joined Julie on the Havergal Directorate, working to connect those “Beyond the Ivy.” Be sure to sign up for Havergal Connections , the BEST place to keep in touch with the school and your classmates. connections. havergal.on.ca
