Mairy Lloyd Merkley bought a 38-acre hobby farm in Annapolis Royal, N.S., where she’s renovating the 1867- era house – full of character and charm – and cleaning up the grounds. She spent time in Colombia last spring and in Toronto this winter to care for her mother. Next is a river cruise from Budapest to Istanbul! After a year of welcoming family and friends to Victoria, B.C., Janet Frost and her husband Brian are planning a visit to their daughter April in Ottawa and a family reunion in
P.E.I., and they are thinking of spending next Christmas with their daughter Clare in Switzerland. Shirley Marsh moved back to Victoria last fall, but as of this writing was travelling in Turkey, to be followed by Spain and Morocco! Lastly, Sally Moffat Taylor and her husband Dave are spending their third winter in Fernie, B.C., where both of their sons live, having lots of outdoor winter fun and enjoying family time. They love the gorgeous mountain views and their new, retired friends.

CLASS REPS: Jennifer Carter and Catherine (Cathy) Robinson Clark The Class of 1974 continues to celebrate great achievements in both our personal and professional lives. We can hardly believe we’re approaching our 45th Reunion! As a retired teacher, Virginia (Ginnie) Grand Wright enjoys spending her time tutoring and as a board member of Face the Future, a wonderful foundation that conducts life-saving, life-changing facial procedures to address complexities experienced by young people. She is excited to celebrate her youngest daughter’s wedding in Muskoka this September and delights at spending time with her four wonderful grandchildren. Not only does Jennifer Tory keep busy as the Royal Bank of Canada’s chief administrative officer, but both of her daughters – both doctors – are engaged! Also engaged are both of Cathy Robinson Clark ’s sons. In November, Liz Saunders had the joy of welcoming her third grandchild and first granddaughter, Jázmin Olivia Saunders-Morton, to the family.
Kathy Garnsworthy is spending her retirement chasing after her two-year-old granddaughter and teaching ESL and citizenship to immigrants and refugees. She currently has three students from Poland, Pakistan and South Sudan, and one just passed the citizenship test with a perfect 20 out of 20! Last summer, Gillian (Gil) O’Reilly and her husband Tony took a 30-day, 13,700-kilometre drive to Dawson City, Yukon. The trip was amazing and illuminating, and the drive down the Rogers Pass Highway to Skagway was extraordinary. Gil is busy with various writing projects and is about to become the chair of the Telling Tales Festival, a children’s literary festival in Hamilton. Grandchildren seem to be the theme of the year; Pamela Stutz-Tanner also welcomed two this year. She now has two granddaughters and three grandsons; they have truly brought out her inner child. In addition to keeping up with them, she spends her time with her 98-year-old father, who still plays the piano beautifully. Even through life’s trials and tribulations, Pamela aspires to “live in the moment, as nobody is guaranteed tomorrow.”
