CLASS OF 1970 ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS TOTAL AS AT MAY 31, 2019

CLASS REPS: Margie Ryrie Pacini and Jane Robinson Travels, winter escapes and cruises were very popular this year! Barb Smith Cuffley ’s son treated her to an L.A.-to-Mexico cruise for her birthday. Leslie Jennings cruised through Polynesia with her son Billy. She also travelled to Italy and is planning a trip to Spain in the fall. Beth Hillary McEwen took a three-week tour of Patagonia which included a small-ship cruise to Cape Horn and glaciers around Tierra del Fuego. Beth is also president of the local women’s institute. Debbie (Toddy) Todd Merritt took a Mediterranean cruise, visiting five ports and ending in Rome. Her 11th grandchild is due in June! Monica Siig Heron spent the winter in Malaga, Spain connecting with friends. Debbie Scott earns the prize for the most travelled. They have been to Martinique, Northern Cyprus and Istanbul, Southern England and Australia. She comes to Toronto often to visit her one-year-old granddaughter and three-year-old grandson. Kate Palmer Wilkinson , who lives in Halifax, retired from her position as an actor and facilitator of Theatre for Change and Playback Theatre. She frequently travels to the U.K. to visit family. Harriet Burgoyne Lehnen and her husband bought a home in Victoria to escape the Ontario winters. Ninkey Adamson Dalton-Eglee spent a month in Paris studying French. She is on the board of a local tennis club and is involved with a community neighbourhood watch. She had a great lunch visit with Lenora Hume . This year, Rosemary Russell travelled to Mexico City and Boca de Tomatlan for a week of adventure and learning with an artists’ community. Barb Baker Tordoff spends four months in Puerto Vallarta and volunteers with Capitol Theatre in Port Hope during the rest of the year.

Sally Flatt Brown joined her family in Roatan for a week. She volunteers at a local thrift store that raises money for victims of violence. Philippa Samworth is planning a trip to Portugal with her family in June. She and Laurel (Laurie) Vanderburgh spent a weekend in Halifax. Jill Bennett runs 17 dogs for her dog-sledding business. She appreciates having her daughter Juli, who recently graduated from veterinary college, to help with the dogs’ needs. Jill celebrated her granddaughter’s first birthday in Kelowna. Katharine Howarth Fletcher is a member of a collective of artists that brings art to the rural communities. Sybil Patterson Reburn is looking forward to seeing Carolyn Pirrie St. Pierre and Ninkey Adamson Dalton- Eglee at a Camp Wapomeo reunion in August. Rosamund (Ros) Morley Storr will be travelling to Venice in May for the Biennale because her Parthenia quartet’s commissioned piece will be part of the exhibition. Patricia (Patti) Sheppard Ebright is a member of the American Association of University Women, whose mission is to promote education and equity for women and girls. Carole Rubin has moved back to her hilltop house. She found the noise in the house below was too much. Kathy Weekes Southee skied for 20 days and counting this year! Jane Robinson was in Ottawa in September and had a great afternoon/dinner visit with Kathy. She continues on the board of the neighbourhood association and volunteers on a number of advisory committees for waterfront developments like the exciting Port Lands Flood Protection and Don River Naturalization.
