CLASS REPS: Elizabeth (Bet) Stanbury Curry and Frances (Fran) Bond McElroy Lasting friendships from school days and strong family relationships are the themes of this year’s Class of 1954 news. There were a number of get-togethers with classmates. Elizabeth (Bet) Stanbury Curry, Jane Bredin Currie and Frances (Fran) Bond McElroy met with Vernanne Purdy Drummond in Kitchener for a lovely lunch full of reminiscences. Penny Lash Lorimer in Vancouver and Margo MacLaren Watt in Ottawa had a great long- distance visit by phone at Christmas time. Fran Bond McElroy and Elda Phipps Thomas reconnected at Victoria College, University of Toronto, during their 60th Reunion. Jane Bredin Curry once again enjoyed a visit with Joan Burns Addison in Grand Cayman. Jane Gunn Warner and Colin welcomed Fran Bond McElroy and Ross for lunch in Vancouver in February. Jean French Bell and Fran Bond McElroy will visit Bet in Florida in early March. Several classmates travelled with family members this year. Joan had a wonderful trip with her family to Botswana, where they enjoyed the exotic animals and stunning scenery. Jill Kerruish Strickland travelled to Scotland with her son and twin grandsons where they explored historic places related to the Stricklands. Jean French Bell and her two daughters enjoyed a river cruise in France, and she and Jim later went on a four-city European tour. Family events were very special. Jane Bredin Curry welcomed her first great-granddaughter while Jill Kerruish Strickland enjoyed the wedding of her granddaughter as well as a trip to Toronto to visit family. Several classmates reported how appreciative they were of family members who rose to the occasion when life

was proving difficult and extra help was needed. The importance of place in our lives continues as some of us make moves and others remain in old familiar surroundings. Jill reports that she has settled in nicely to a residence that welcomes dogs and provides lots of companionship. Nancy Lord Spanton continues to enjoy her life in Barrie where she has opportunities to teach exercises to seniors and to be involved in activities to keep herself fit and make new friends. Sally Bryden McCulloch still enjoys summers at her Muskoka cottage where she loves to welcome family and friends. Susan Radley Fraser has been enjoying her Florida winters for several years now, while Bet Stanbury Curry has just started to spend her winters in Gasparilla Island, close to her son and his family. After many years in Sarasota, Jean French Bell has sold the condo she has visited since 1974. Patricia (Patty) Gooderham Morgenstern plans to leave her Edmonton home of 40 years in April to relocate to Canmore, where she hopes to continue to play tennis and cross-country ski. Anne Coleman published a book, Inland Navigation by the Stars: A Memoir .
