GAY SELLERS KROEGER 1952 BURSARY TOTAL AS AT MAY 31, 2019

CLASS REPS: Joan Rudolf McKinney and Susan (Sue) Watson Nelson Another year has passed, and we have seen not only climate changes in the world with disastrous results, but in our own lives as well. Many months ago, we lost our fellow Class Rep, Sally Garratt Vernon , who was a good friend and helper with our newsletters over the years. She will be sadly missed. Susan (Sue) Watson Nelson suddenly had two days to make a quick decision to sell the house and move into a Revera seniors residence because of her husband’s ill health, knowing that there, he would get the help he needed. She does manage to keep up with friends for lunches and her Probus group, which she enjoys. Unfortunately, earlier this year, she also lost her sister. Joan Rudolf McKinney and Jim are looking forward to a trip to Europe next year with friends. Pat Eckardt Sedgwick and Julie Fortin Gray often see each other at the Arts and Letters Club, taking part in some of their programs. Gail Worth , who lives in Collingwood, remains an avid birdwatcher. We sometimes see her when she comes to Toronto to visit her daughter, Beth. Together, they are planning to rent a cottage in Nova Scotia for a few weeks in August. Nancy Reid Jackson continues to be very active in the Collingwood Arts Community, coordinating shows and facilitating a weekly painting group, the Marsh Street Artists. In the winter, she loves to ski downhill with friends, walk dogs, play bridge and participate in book clubs. In summer, she paints and gardens at her farm in Haliburton. Judy Ratcliffe and Brenda Robson enjoy their time at the cottage, weather permitting. The snow, ice and freezing pellets have presented some problems for them.

Mary Deacon Kent sometimes meets with Anita Cran Corrigan at the Claremont retirement home where they lunch with the other Havergal girls who also live there. Isabel Brazill Paterson-Smyth and Betty Lawrence Wansbrough are both at Belmont House. Doreen Seigman Murray has an active lifestyle in Port Carling. Unfortunately, we have heard very little from our classmates over the years, so we feel that this will be our last year to do the Class News for the Chronicle and hope someone from the Class of 1952 will step forward and take it over. Finally, please remember your donations to the Gay Sellers Kroeger Bursary this year. We wish you all a happy and healthy 2019.
