OLD GIRLS NETWORKING & MENTORING

The Havergal Old Girls Association Career and Education Committee offers numerous opportunities for Old Girls to mentor students and fellow alumnae. This valuable work broadens your own network and lets you share your expertise – and it helps young alumnae launch their careers, develop skills and meet the challenges of life. Together, Old Girls create a stronger, more engaged community. Our various mentoring programs connect experienced alumnae with fellow Old Girls who are seeking career guidance from leading professionals in their industries. This can involve regular, in-person meetings or e-mail and telephone contact.

Take Your Daughter to Work The first Wednesday in November is Take Your Child to Work Day , a mentoring opportunity for Grade 9 students. Old Girls and members of our current and past parent communities generously provide placements for boarders and day students who require them, or who are looking to learn more about a particular field of interest. Career Networking Event Havergal hosts a Career Networking Event for Grades 11 and 12 students every two years, in April. This unique event is based on the popular concept of speed dating. Havergal students are linked with industry leaders from business, medicine, media, arts, law, science, government and other sectors. The girls speak face to face with members of Havergal’s community about career-related interests and journeys and gain exposure to careers which they might not have otherwise considered. Pairs of mentors host a series of rotating groups of students. It is a fun, activity-filled morning. The next Career Networking Event takes place in April 2021.
