CLASS OF 1990

CLASS OF 1990 ENDOWMENT TOTAL AS AT MAY 31, 2019

CLASS REP: Laura Cuddie The Class of 1990 can’t believe that next year will be our 30th Reunion. Everyone is looking forward to getting together with old friends in Toronto. Thanks to Susie Macrae , a marketing consultant in Toronto, who has offered to help plan a special gathering for the reunion since Class Rep Laura Cuddie is living in Jackson Hole, WY. Our class continues to keep busy professionally and personally. Congratulations to three of our classmates who were blessed with bundles of joy in the past year. Amy Wilson (Toronto) and Giselle Jones (Los Angeles) welcomed daughters, while Vivian Wu (San Francisco) welcomed a son. Giselle is a licensed psychotherapist and a mindfulness facilitator and is looking forward to her wedding in May. Karyn McLean has been in Hong Kong for five years, working in marketing and communication. She travels extensively and loves the vibrancy of Asia. She recently competed in a five-day sailing race around the Caribbean. Stephanie Palazzi Boston is in Dallas. In 2016 she graduated from the executive MBA program at the University of Texas at Dallas. It was a great program that allowed her to travel to Halifax, where she connected with Karen Schaffer , and to South Africa, which was a magnificent experience. She is with software developer RealPage in an HR role supporting international teams in India and Philippines, assisting with acquisitions and integration. She enjoys taekwondo with her son; both are second-degree black belts. Deb Roth Ledley is in Philadelphia, where she is a psychologist. She recently published two books. She is a volunteer with the Philadelphia Orchestra and mom of two – one heading to high school next year. Christine Samuelian is still living near London, U.K. with her husband and two daughters, running her design PR firm

and playing tennis when it’s not raining. Heather Plaxton MacDonald is in Newmarket her husband and three kids. She loves her role as head of the lower school at Holy Trinity School. Freestyle skiing, snowboarding, hockey, road biking and polo are just a few of the sports that keep the whole family active and happy. This year, Sarah Meharg delivered a United Nations course on peacebuilding in Seoul, Korea, and continues to educate the Canadian Forces on peacekeeping and reconstruction. Sarah focuses her business efforts on real estate development in Eastern Ontario. Sarah’s little girls, 9 and 5, are getting to be as tall as she is! Gillian Whitebread left the banking industry to lead human resources at Morneau Shepell, a global leader in HR consulting and outsourcing services that provides integrated solutions to enable companies to support the total well-being of their employees. She recently joined the McMichael Canadian Art Collection’s board of directors, which brought back fond memories of Havergal field trips. On a personal note, no glamorous travel stories with fellow alum to share, but she and Olivia Boothby Steedman found themselves together in the middle of the “snowstorm of the year” in Buffalo as they cheered on their sons’ hockey team. Kim Walls Van Vliet was recognized as one of the top 20 women in defence in Canada by Esprit de Corps magazine. Naomi Buck is in Toronto, watching her two sons overtake her (in height), while writing, editing (the Chronicle ) and trying to limit the damage wrought by an incredible growing dog of questionable lineage.
