CLASS REPS: Jane Cardarelli Devine and Sarah Sedgwick Parry It looks like most of us are nearing retirement and starting new adventures, hobbies and travels. Janet McKinlay has retired from work at the Mississauga Central Library, where she served as a full- time librarian for more than 26 years. She received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition of her contribution to the Royal Canadian Institute for the Advancement of Science. Janet looks forward to gardening this summer at her house in Mississauga. She sends her best regards and warm wishes to everyone. Jane Southey and Jane Wansbrough Philp are both travelling to visit their sporting sons! Jane S. has a son trying to get onto the golf tour and Jane W. has two skiing sons, one of whom represented Canada at the Olympics in Korea and placed 18th. She is also painting! Beth Crosbie Alexander is painting a lot, trying to get it to a point at which she feels comfortable seeing if any galleries are interested in her work. Julia Lorenzetti travelled in Italy in the sweltering month of June last year. She is still an artist as well! Kim Allaby ’s Soothing Hands Equine Therapy – her equine massage business – is celebrating 20 years in business! As a new initiative this year, she will be doing Facebook live events to teach more people the importance of massage in maintaining and/or improving the quality of movement in their horses, and how to do it themselves.

Lesley Waterfield MacMillan has retired from the CBC after 28 years. She has sold her house in Toronto and spends time in both an apartment in Oshawa and her cottage, while wintering at her house in Ormond Beach, Florida. Anne DesBrisay is still in Ottawa, but has retired from writing her weekly restaurant column after 25 years. She published Ottawa Cooks last year, a book that celebrates the capital’s food scene through 40 of its finest chefs. She is working on two other food books. Janet MacPhail Currie ’s husband is retired, so they are planning some fun travels and she is busy having fun and working with Sunnybrook Hospital, Children’s Mental Health and Havergal! Barb Blair Mason has launched a small artisanal family business called Mason’s Wood ‘N Weavers. They restore beloved furniture that needs rushing, caning or weaving. She continues to build for Habitat for Humanity and will attend another build in Oregon this August to help rebuild after the exceptional fires of that summer. Katie Aird Porter is still busy with her pottery and doing some commissions for friends. Lisa McAlpine , another entrepreneur, continues to hone her cheese skills. It would be lovely to see some of the artwork on our Facebook page!!
