CLASS NEWS

CLASS REPS: Nancy Drope and Jill Adamson Mallory First and foremost, thank you to Nancy Drope and Jill Adamson Mallory for representing the Class of 1977 for so many years. Nancy is stepping back from her Old Girl duties and Nan Laine Dunlop is stepping in. Please contact Nan at ndunlop2008@gmail.comwith any updated e-mail addresses for you or your friends. There are a lot of girls we’re not reaching or hearing from. We had a fabulous 40th Reunion in September, meeting first at the school and seeing lots of old friends and teachers. Then we moved on to the Rebel House, where we ate, drank and talked and talked and talked! It was great to reconnect with old friends and to fall right back into place with each other. 2017 was also a special year for the Class of 1977, as our own Catherine Lawrence was honoured to receive the Havergal College Life Achievement Award. It was a wonderful night of celebration! We are all very proud of you, Cathy! Jan Andrews Varner just retired and she and Dave are hitting the road in their motorhome to their cottage in Ramea, Newfoundland. Having sold their home, they will spend their winters in Belize (where every stray dog is welcome to come in for biscuits) and summer in Newfoundland. Enjoy! Nancy Drope is loving life in Niagara/Queenston, teaching yoga. She joined Colette Baron-Reid’s Oracle School in the spring of 2017 and is learning to become an Oracle Guide. Her four kids are blossoming, with Hilary getting married

in June and Ally pursuing her national team rowing dream in Victoria, B.C. Look up Colette Baron-Reid and her Oracle teachings. She is world-renowned for her guidance. Wendy Esaw Davis is living in New York, continuing to commute to Manhattan for her banking career. Her girls are both in college; Julia is in her third year at Harvard and her younger daughter is at the University of Vermont. Wendy invites anyone going to New York to contact her for a get- together! Louise Vallance is living in Toronto with her two dogs and loving her career of voicing, directing and producing animated series. She commutes between her cottage on Lake Huron and Yorkville, learning new jazz standards on the drive. She just finished performing at the Jazz Bistro and will be at the Old Mill, Homesmith Bar on October 20. Katharine Durish moved back to Canada in the summer of 2016. She moved across the country with her two dogs and two talking parrots, all in her little Toyota – a three-day drive with a moving truck following her. She is living in Ancaster and looking for a job in that area. She and Nancy Drope got together last fall for lunch. Nan Laine Dunlop is still living in Muskoka and working at her own pace as a real estate agent. She has seven grandchildren who are the loves of her life. She and her husband John spend as much time as possible fishing and floating around on the French River, often with a grandchild in tow.
