Boarding Handbook 2024-25

The Boarding School closes at 6 pm, therefore dinner is not provided to students. Boarding reopens at 4 pm after a closure and dinner service is provided at the normal time of 5 pm. If a student becomes ill over a long weekend closure, they must remain in the care of their parent or guardian until the student is symptom free. Alcohol and Recreational Drugs Possession and/or use of alcohol, marijuana, unauthorized prescription drugs and nonprescription drugs are prohibited. Students found in possession of these items will follow Havergal’s Progressive Discipline Procedure. Cars, Bicycles and Inline Skates Boarding students are not permitted to keep cars at school. Bicycles may be kept locked outside. Inline skating is only allowed outside of the school building. Helmets and other safety equipment must be worn. Use of bicycles and inline skates is limited to use on school property only this year. Electrical Appliances Due to the limited number of outlets per room and the residence fire regulations, students must limit the number of small appliances they bring to school. Computers, radios, low wattage hair dryers, curling irons, fans and humidifiers are permitted in rooms. Gaming units, TVs, refrigerators, kettles, rice cookers or other small appliances are not permitted in rooms. Energy Stimulating Beverages Beverages (such as RedBull, Rockstar, Monster, etc.) are not permitted in Boarding, nor may these beverages be purchased and stored for consumption in Boarding. Food Allergies Staff, students, parents and volunteers should refrain from bringing peanuts and other food products containing nuts into the school. Havergal College is nut aware, which means that we can not guarantee the school premises are nut-free. Students who are highly allergic to specific food products and food groups need to alert the School Nurse before moving into Boarding. These students must carry an Epi-Pen with them at all times.
